India’s dream Unique Identity Card project will soon have big names from the world of technology besides Nandan Nilekani who is spearheading the project.

In a recent visit to India, Bill Gates, the founder-chairman of Microsoft who is not only the richest person in the world but a great philanthropist as well, expressed his desire that Microsoft would like to play a constructive role in the UIC project.

Yet to take over officially, but Nandan Nilekani cannot sit quiet and hence he began with his new job by meeting with oil minister Murli Deora and minister of state Jitin Prasad.

The reason is that the database for cooking gas is huge and he can begin the mammoth task of creating unique citizen-Id cards by taking the first step in this direction.
